Engineers use this tool, to design nutrition bars and test them in a lab. RecipeTest is made up of two parts, one for building nutrition bars, and one for testing those created nutrition bars in a lab.
The building part of the tool is called RecipeBuilder; it is essentially a calculator. When using this part of the tool, students can create nutrition bars by adding and subtracting different ingredients. The tool’s outputs are specifications derived from different characteristics of the chosen ingredients.
When the students have finished building their nutrition bar they start the testing part of the tool, called RecipeTester. When using this part of the tool, they send their bar to a lab where test users who represent typical members of the target populations eat the designed bar and see how well it meets their metabolic needs.
